The green façades of the Vysočina Regional Library are planted with meadow vegetation, which is complemented by more than 58 species of flowering plants and herbs. The vertical gardens dampen noise, cool in summer, and warm in winter, thus reducing energy costs, capturing water, and improving ambient air quality. In addition, they change their appearance throughout the year, giving the building an original look.
The entrance to the library is dominated by a high wooden staircase together with a living wall that serves as a distinctive decorative element and also acts as an acoustic absorber. In addition, the plants placed in the interior help to improve attention and memory, increase productivity, reduce stress, and maintain mental well-being. Therefore, green facades and living walls are not mere decorations, as their benefits go far beyond mere aesthetics.
